Goa Rangko Cave & Blue Pool Near Labuan Bajo, Flores

Goa Rangko Cave is an elegant hidden spot with a natural blue pool near the city of Labuan Pago in Flores, Indonesia.

Labuan Bajo is already known as the famous Gateway to Indonesia Comodo National ParkAnd this unique cave (also known as Gua Rangko) is very easy to visit with a short drive from the city and then ride the rapid boat on the coast.

This travel guide will explain how to get to the Labuan Bajo Gua Rangko cave, and all you need to know before you go!

Where is the stay in Labwan Bago?

Goa Rangko Cave – What do you expect

Goa Rangko Cave (also known as Gua Rangko) is a limestone cave that only the sunlight affects once a day (I will explain more about it a little), and when it shines, the swimming pool contains a very cute blue color.

You can swim in the pool, and it is easy to float due to minerals in water. You can even discover some of the small fish you swim in.

There are steps to the water, but be careful on the rocks near the edge of the pool because it can be slippery.

Water boots can be a good idea, at least until it enters into the water.

The best time to visit

In our experience, the cave began to get light at 2:00 pm, but the best lighting was from 2:30 to 3:00 pm. It was already fading again by 3:30 pm, so you don’t have a very long window to take pictures.

We first came to the cave at 12:00 (based on what a friend said), but he was still dark. I am sure that the timing changes slightly with the seasons, so put it into consideration. This was in early March.

The best bet for you is to find someone there was recently, or maybe asking the man in the ticket booth. Clouds can also prevent your lighting, but fortunately, Labuan Bajo has a very uniform climate, so it is not a problem usually.

Entry

  • Boat crossing: ~ 200k Idr (~ $ 14) return
  • Cave entrance fees: 50k Idr

The boat holds up to 5 people so that you can divide the cost if you go with friends. Drivers will try to quote the crazy high prices at first, so you will need to do some bargaining.

How to get there

Goa Rangko Cave is accessed by boats, but you must first drive to The port20-30 minutes from the city of Labuan Bago.

The road is mostly paved, with a few very slope hills. In general, it is a very easy campaign with a decrease in traffic and great views on the coast.

Next, you have to take a boat to the Goa Rangko cave, which is located in a hidden small beach surrounded by mountains. There will be boat drivers waiting in the port, but they are prevailing at a fair price (see above). It takes only 15 minutes riding or less, and the driver will wait for you while exploring the cave.

When you reach the island, there is a small ticket booth and then a short path to the cave. Follow the path you left along the rocks and you will see the cave in 5 minutes or less.

Additional: Sandbar Sandbar

If you want an additional thing to see it near Goa Rangko, there is a small sandy tape called Pasir Timbul that can be accessed by boat in just 5 minutes!

When the tide is dropped, Sandbar is a crescent shape. In Tide High, it is only a small tablet of sand. It is easy to combine this stain with the Gua Rangko cave, which is great for drones.

Just push your boat driver on an additional rupee ranging from 50 and 100 km and they will take you there (it’s already close enough to be visible even from the port).
