Pueblo, CO – A fast-moving storm system is set to bring snow and freezing temperatures to Southern Colorado starting Monday afternoon. Commuters along I-25 should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, particularly through the Palmer Divide, as snow spreads south into the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, snow chances begin increasing after midday Monday, with moderate to heavy snowfall likely through early Tuesday. Accumulations will vary, with the highest totals expected in mountain areas, including the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains. Roadways in El Paso, Teller, and Douglas counties could see snow-covered surfaces and icy patches by Monday evening.

Temperatures will plummet, with daytime highs in the mid-30s and overnight lows dipping into the teens. Wind chills could fall into the single digits, further complicating outdoor activities and travel. Residents are urged to allow extra time for commutes, keep emergency kits in their vehicles, and monitor weather updates.

The week ahead will bring some relief as conditions improve by Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday will see clearing skies and highs around 39 degrees, but the chill remains. Wednesday looks sunnier with highs near 50, and Thursday will bring milder conditions, reaching the mid-50s.

For now, travelers should stay updated on I-25 closures or delays and be prepared for winter driving conditions through Tuesday morning.
